Hajime no Ippo, the long-running boxing manga and anime series created by Joji Morikawa, will hold its first official live boxing event, Dynamite Glove 2025, on November 18, 2025, at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

The one-day event will feature seven professional boxing bouts, an exhibit of original manga artwork, and a live talk session with Morikawa. The venue will be decorated with anime-inspired visuals and banners designed to recreate the series’ atmosphere. Korakuen Hall, known as the setting for many matches in the manga, will serve as the event’s location.

This will mark the first official event that connects Hajime no Ippo with live boxing. Organizers emphasize that the matches are not reenactments but authentic professional bouts intended to capture the emotion and intensity associated with the series.

About Hajime no Ippo

Hajime no Ippo (translated as The First Step) is a popular Japanese boxing manga created by Joji Morikawa. It has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine by Kodansha since 1989. The series centers on Makunochi Ippo, a high school student who embarks on a journey into the world of boxing. Throughout his career, he rises through the ranks, earns titles, and faces many formidable opponents.

As of April 2025, the manga series has published 143 volumes. A 76-episode anime adaptation by MADHOUSE ran from October 2000 to March 2002. In 2003, the series expanded with the release of a movie and an original video animation (OVA). The story then continued with Season 2, Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger, which aired for 26 episodes from January to June 2009, followed by the third season Hajime no Ippo: Rising, which ran for 25 episodes from October 2013 to March 2014.
